Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Scarlett Valentine, at the Jeremy Scott show*.
I asked Scarlett if she would mind kind of climbing the fence for the photo and the poor thing almost impaled herself on one of the spikes- owwww!!! I felt so bad as I have done it myself (of course I wasn't doing anything illegal ;)) and I know it hurts like crazy. Sorry Scarlett- thanks for being such a great sport and laughing about it after :))
I didn't realise that Jeremy does an iconic Pliage bag each season for Longchamp (hellllloooo where have I been?!) until I photographed a guy with one last week. It was the Jeremy Scott gold credit card Pliage bag which I thought was super cute. From the photos, I also love the Poodle bag from a few seasons ago and the new one, available now, the telephone print bag. It has a very Get Smart feel to it!

Tracy Rosenbaum, assistant to The Sartorialist, and a girl whose personal style I adore. Each day at LFW Tracey looked fantastic (I have more photos which I will share with you later) culminating in a wonderful amethyst jumpsuit at the Burberry show. Tracy just oozes chic but she adds quirky little accents (e.g. her wedge heels which had "Seance On A Wet Afternoon" written across them, and a beautiful, cascading turquoise necklace which she teamed with shorts, Breton striped tee and Converse) to keep things modern and interesting. Tracy studied fashion design in Nebraska (I suspect she also studied how to be utterly lovely and patient when 10 photographers are all wanting a photo of her, as well!) and then moved to NYC to work for Scott.

At the top of her back Tracy has a tattoo: Live, Learn, Create.....one imagines that that is exactly how Tracy approaches life :)

Her tee-shirt made me smile: I was humming "Don't Worry, Be Happy" for about 30mins after I photographed her :))

She was looking off to the side to her Dad who was giving her encouragement! Cool Dad for taking her to a fashion show, huh?!

Overalls and Louboutins? You bet!

Alex Dunstan, model with Select, at LFW.

These photos are in homage to
we could grow up together who is already living the photographic dream :)

Check out his blog for beautiful photographs of beautiful boys and beautiful things.

Argh. So need to make sure my Longchamp Le Pilage is OUT OF SHOT when taking photos!

At Erdem, the beautiful, ethereal Nao Koyaeu, wearing vintage.

On a side-note I loved seeing Virginia Bates, owner of the wonderful vintage/antique clothing boutique, Virginia, wearing Erdem to the show. Virginia is proof that one can look fabulous at any age.

Ahhhh the gorgeous Yasmin Sewell....The thing about Yasmin (and the reason why everyone loves to photograph her) is that she always, always looks amazing..... I strongly suspect that Yasmin would even look good in a Snuggie!*. She wears things that suit her shape, her hair and skin colour but, more importantly, she looks comfortable and confident. Yasmin doesn't look like she has just whizzed around the floors of Liberty (where she is Chief Creative Consultant) randomly pulling on the latest designer items: what she wears is her own personal style and one suspects that she mixes pieces she has had in her (extraordinary) wardrobe for a long time with new, interesting pieces.

Love the lady-tweed trousers she is sporting here with the exaggerated shoulder top. We might not have Yasmin's budget for clothes (it is her job, after all) but we can certainly be inspired by what she wears and find our own interpretations on the high street and in vintage stores.

*Those weird blankets with sleeves that became strangely popular last year- you can even get one for your doggie. Crikey!

Model streetstyle: love the pop of colour on her legs and the fluro pink stars dangling from her lobes. Oh yeah, and her drink just happens to coordinate as well :))

p.s. I have just realised that she has red-ish hair....does this mean I am officially obsessed?!! Eeek!

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Red hair + the hottest tights of the season: POLKA DOTS! .Love.

I seriously adore the way Filippa Smeds (from Stockholm) has paired her dainty Balenciaga-ish tights with those tough eyelet boots, zippered shorty-shorts and simple grey sweater. Oh but her hair! Wow! I can't decide what I am loving more right now: platinum blonde or red hair :)

Okay, so America has Tavi, Europe has 14 year old Noa Leijdesdorff and Lev Livnev (love his red hair!) from brainsbeauty.wordpress.com.

Noa is Brains + Beauty's editor-in-chief, while Lev is the photographer (I held onto his TWO cameras while I was snapping these shots!). Their "about section" states that brains+beauty "is a blog for students from students. We are dedicated on providing the latest fashion and trends for students, so they can study and look stylish all at the same time…Brains + Beauty was launched December 2008 with a vision of supplying teenage girls with fashion advice, latest news on designers and more…all from one place so they could quickly update themselves on the fashion world and still have enough time to study…’Girls that are always up-to-date in fashion but also score top marks in algebra…Fashion-nerd-as! as we like to say’".

p.s. In the first shot is the guy who was managing the Matches on-site store....I saw him take a photograph of Noa and Lev and thought to myself, wouldn't it be cool to shoot him shooting them! So I did :)

Co-founder of Dazed&Confused magazine, Jefferson Hack (the other founder was Rankin- anyone go and see him shooting at Rankin Live?).

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

The stunning Akiko Aoki wearing Egg (I think). The above photo is one of my favourites- I just love the light on Akiko's face and the little splooshes of yellow on her bag and the railing.

I guess some of you might have worked out that my absolute favourite thing to photograph is people's portraits. I love faces, and I love making people feel and (hopefully) look beautiful, even if it is just for the minute or so that I am with them. For me, more than anything, it is the people behind the clothes, the hair, the make-up that are important, and what I want to capture in my images.

POP!!!

The perfect pink with Olga Grotova's PLATINUM blonde hair* and gorgeous blue-green eyes.

I finished a marathon photo editing session at 4am this morning....and I am beat. Despite my exhaustion from: living on 4 hours sleep each night; running madly between shows- don't get me started on how hard it is to locate the press buses: they mysteriously move from where they drop off so it is like a wild treasure hunt to find them after each show. By the end I worked out that the best approach is to attach oneself to the catwalk photographers who seem to have an inbuilt press bus location radar :); not eating properly: fashion week is the new boot camp!; trying to shoot while dodging cars, security guards, other photographers; getting abused by an irate resident who lives near the Topshop Venue (it is pretty chaotic with cars and people everywhere blocking the streets); I absolutely LOVED my first "official" LFW...I so wish I was going to Milan and Paris. Well, I actually am going to Paris during Fashion Week but I will only be shooting for one day :(

The highlight of my week? The Burberry show. OMG, it was incredible: I feel so fortunate to have witnessed the return of Burberry to LFW. The glittery/sequined trench towards the end almost moved me to tears. I loved so many of the pieces in the collection (the exquisite ruching, the pale sherbet colours, the strong shoulders, the reworked trench/dress) and I thought it was highly wearable for women of most shapes and sizes. Okay, so most of us can't actually afford any of the clothes that were on the catwalk but it is nice to take inspiration.

Thank you to everyone who has been leaving comments and emailing me :))) You guys are so lovely. I should be back to normal on the weekend and will email everyone back/reply to comments/questions then.

* BargainBex are you seeing this??!!! More platinum :))) It's a sign!

The stunning Amy Little in one of my absolute favourite outfits from this week (okay, I do have a lot of favourites :)). I just love that yellow satchel (from Cambridge Satchel Company in case you need one- and yes you do!), Topshop trousers and her beautiful red hair. And do you note the little red lips around her neck? Perfect.

Sunday morning and The Perfect Green Jacket appeared before me.

Love.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

The beautiful Taylor Tomasi, style and accessories director at Marie Claire (US) magazine. I just love everything she has worn this week AND she is just so, so nice. She is patient and always smiling despite being constantly asked for photographs.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

The adorable Mabel who I photographed outside the Louise Goldin show yesterday! Adore her red boots, blue coat and little owl pendant. I have photographed quite a few littlies over the course of LFW and will upload the photos over the coming weeks.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Kate, Kate, Kate: We Love You!

Kate Lanphear, style director at US Elle, rockin' the Jim Beam t-shirt.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Another girl who I thought looked fantastic- I love her simple stripey dress (notice the raw hem)
and the way she has paired it with the exotic necklace (I am so tired that I can't think where it would be from- my initial thought was Indian? but perhaps it is Turkish or Moroccan?). I wouldn't have ever thought of teaming the two together but it works.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Wow, this girl (I didn't catch her name- hopefully I will see her again so I can ask her) looked amazing. She is a student studying fashion in London and I am just in awe of how her style. I love the almost Argentian Gaucho? /Peruvian influences (the hat and the long-line cardigan, which echoes the Gaucho poncho) which she has worked in with thoroughly modern rolled up jeans, ankle boots and mesh/string detailing on her top.

The thing I love about her look is that, okay, you might not want to wear exactly what she is wearing because it is her personal style (as with everyone I photograph) but it gives ideas, possibilities, inspirations for your own wardrobe.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Remember the Schni-Schna-Schnappi or Snip-Snap-Snappy, Snappy-Snappy-Snap (The Little Crocodile) song sung by the 9 year old German girl? MAJOR hit back in 2005 and I suspect the Christopher Kane for Topshop crocodile print dress will be just as huge. I have photographed at least 3 people wearing it at LFW so far, and I have to say, I still love seeing it. It makes me smile ... I adored his original primate print dresses as well.

P.S. Anyone purchased anything else from his capsule Topshop collection? I quite like the look of the Embellished bodycon dress and the rivet boot.

Okily, so anyone who has been following my blog for awhile will recognise the utterly gorgeous Audrey from Be Frassy. Audrey, one of my fellow "Eurostar Little Fashion Break" bloggers (LFW has been a mini reunion for quite a few of us) has been at fashion week the last two days and I can tell you that EVERYONE wants to photograph her-once one photographer starts snapping away, about five others follow!

These are today's photos of Audrey but once LFW is finished, I will post the other photos to show you what she wore each day...fingers crossed she lets me take some more photos after today's little shoot :)

So how did this photo come about? I was standing chatting to Craig Arend from Altamira NYC when I spotted Sarah, the beautiful Saluki pup standing with her owner. My brain started whirring and I said to Craig, wouldn't it be cool if I could get someone to pose with the dog.....and next thing I spotted Audrey :)))) Holllla!

Sarah's owner was happy for Audrey to hold Sarah's lead and, well, this is the result. Sarah is a country dog so she was a little camera shy but I promise she got lots of pats after I shot a couple of frames :)

p.s. I didn't ask where Audrey got her outfit from but I know she said her shoes are from Office. I think she will probably blog about where her outfits are from anyway.

p.p.s Mark Fast's show this morning was fantastic- the dresses were WOW!

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Yes, she is wearing all black but wow, that !POP! of colour on her head just takes her outfit to the next level, particularly against her blonde, blonde hair. I photographed just her face and headpiece first but when I saw her standing up later, I was, like, I HAVE to shoot her standing up as well. Luckily she agreed :)

The always impeccabily dressed Luca Rubinacci of Rubinacci tailors, Napoli. You can read a little article on Luca and his father, Gennaro, here. I love that Luca isn't afraid of colour: everything just works so perfectly together and most importantly, accents his amazing blue eyes (and they are even better in real life!).

You can find Rubinacci in Mount Street, London, as well as Milan, Napoli, Tokoyo, New York and Rome. I also discovered, with a little googling, that they have an online shop where you can buy accessories such as scarves, pocket handkerchiefs and watches.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

The stunning Tolula Adeyemi, model and actor (she starred in Last Chance Harvey with Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson). Love her bodysuit and those futuristic heels (I am starting to feel guilty wandering about in my Converse with everyone else in sky-high heels!).

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Holllllla!!! It is almost 2am and the first day of London Fashion Week SS 2010 is OVER!! And I survived....although my feet feel as if they did not ;-)

I am so tired that I think I may be sleeptyping so this is going to be brief, very brief.

I had a fantastic day today- it was so nice to catch up with people I have met/photographed before and to meet so many new people. Normally it takes me a couple of days to really get into the swing of things but today things just seemed to fall into place so fingers crossed it continues for the rest of LFW.

Highlight of my day? Sass and Bide show tonight at The Dairy near Russell Square. It was amazing to have the opportunity to go (I had a ticket so I was actually sitting down rather than in the photographers pen) since they normally show in New York. Some of the pieces were just beautiful- skintight crème, black and loads of metal accents. Front Row? Garance and The Sart, Lara Bingle, Kit Willow (from Willow), Camilla (from Camilla and Marc), Pippa Holt from Vogue.

Roll on Day 2! I'm off to bed.xx

p.s. I shot this model as she came out of the Eun Jeong show. I LOVED the hair and makeup for this collection.

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Anyone who loves shoes will already know Charlotte Dellal, the gorgeous designer behind the shoe label, Charlotte Olympia. I adore Charlotte's shoes, the "island" platform being her trademark. They are edgy, beautiful and sexy, and I love that she isn't afraid of using BOLD, BOLD colours and fabrics. You don't wear Charlotte's shoes if you don't want to get noticed!

p.s. If you get the chance, take a peek under a Charlotte Olympia shoe....there is a teeny little spiders web on the sole, her signature. Oh yes, and her brand name? Her middle name is Olympia :)

Running With The Fash Pack...London Fashion Week SS 2010

Duncan Campbell, editor of Acne Paper. I took loads of photos today but there was something about Duncan which was rather special and I really wanted to upload his photo tonight (actually, given that it is 1am, I guess it is, um, tomorrow) ....hmmm is it his socks? his watch? the jeans? I don't know, but I really like his look.

Running with The Fash Pack: Shooting for British Vogue!

A very quick post before I head into the fashion trenches....I am doing street style photos for British Vogue this fashion week and am beyond excited! Six months ago, when I started photographing street style photos 'seriously', I never imagined that I would have this opportunity (although I might have secretly dreamt about it ;-)). Actually, just getting to step into the hallowed floors of the Vogue offices was amazing- as I sat tightly clutching my portfolio in reception a couple of months ago (trying not to let me knees knock together), Alexandra Shulman strode past: it was rather like being in the presence of a Supreme Court Judge.... exhilarating and awe inspiring! The Vogue team were absolutely lovely....and yes, they really are fabulously dressed ALL THE TIME.
So, wish me luck and if you see me with my camera, come and say hello! I would love to meet you all if you are around this week at LFW. Anyone who has been shot by me knows I love a chat (although my mind went strangely blank yesterday when I was interviewed by a radio station- must practice my answers better ;-)
