Running With The Fash Pack....London Fashion Week A/W 2010

Love this guy's style: grown-up Savile Row but with an edge (note the earrings and the stubble).
p.s. British Esquire magazine is running a competition to find Britian's best-dressed man. The awesome £30, 000 prize includes a full wardrobe of clothes from Harrods and a beautiful Longines watch. I have seriously thought about doing a little gender swap (for a day!) just to enter! Details on how to enter the competition are here.

3 ways with the utility/military trend in London, (Ellie, above), and Paris (below)

Taylor Tomasi-Hill (below). Did everyone see the Refinery29 feature on Taylor's NYC pad? So beautiful: I think most of us would leap at the chance to have a rummage through Taylor's wardrobe!

In the photo below, you can't really see but Taylor had on the most fabulous necklace - I caught sight of it later in the day as she was striding through the Tuileries. I love the idea of wearing blingy, glamorous necklaces (and cocktail rings) for day- it seems a shame to keep them only for evening events. And if you are worried about stares on the 8:00am train, metro, tube or subway just wear an oversized anorak/parka like Taylor to conceal your sparkly pieces until you get to work.
Christine Centenera, Fashion Editor Harper's Bazaar (Australia), looking totally amazing as usual (below)
p.s. I am not even going to comment on Taylor's giant Chanel handbag......except to say, Karl, my Nikon D700 would fit quite nicely in there!

Um, I totally forget this girl's name (really must remember to write descriptions of people in my little black moleskine instead of just names! I rarely forget a face or conversation but names I am utterly useless at) but I know that her man is a catwalk photographer because I spotted her on numerous occasions helping him carry his gear. Nice girlfriend :)I think this was my second shot from the first day of London Fashion Week. I think she said her jacket was from a department store in Shanghai.

p.s.
Okay, so today was the 2nd last day of Paris Fashion Week for A/W 2010 and the day of two of the biggest shows: Chanel and Chloe. And guess who woke up this morning at 6am feeling completely nauseous and remained attached to the toilet bowl for the next 3 hours? Such bad timing for a bout of the stomach flu or food poisoning. Anyway, I was determined not to miss Chanel and managed to drag myself out of my p,j's down to the Grand Palais, where I am told the show was incredible: giant icebergs, models walking in fur coats and boats through water, artic temperatures (given the temperature outside was so bitterly cold, I can only imagine how chilly it must have been inside). I felt a little better after sipping some hot tea and resting inside for an hour or so, and was able to shoot at Chloe-yay! I am so thankful as I really didn't want to miss either of those shows. Talking about Chloe, everyone who saw the show said it was beautiful and wonderfully wearable but that you have to suit camel and caramel- and if you don't, then find a way! Camel seems to be the big colour for next season (this season it would have to be the utility/cargo/military green which seemingly everyone was wearing today.)

Tomorrow I leave to go back to London after the Louis Vuitton show, and then I will start posting Paris photos. Thanks for being so patient, and for leaving such lovely comments. I will reply to comments when I am back in London and also to emails cos I know a few of you have emailed me.

Why Yes! A man can wear a floral scarf and still look manly.
I didn't catch his name but I know his has a boutique in Notting Hill.....

Alannah, who is Irish, and her super cute bike. I photographed Alannah and her bike last September as well- if you scroll back a couple of pages she was wearing a black leather skirt and cream top.

p.s. And Paris? Paris is incredible! The weather yesterday was bitingly cold (it was the wind which had us all shivering and muttering expletives) but the sky was blue and clear and the buildings in Paris looked magnificent. And I am sitting here typing and looking out the window of the little holiday apartment I am renting in St Germain (am on the 4th (Parisien) floor so it means a hike up a trillion stairs at the end of the day!) and it looks like it is going to be another beautiful day. There seemed to be 100's of photographers around this year all trying to photograph the same person (seemingly so many more than last September) so it has been challenging for me to try and get photos (or at least the style of photos I like to take). I am completely useless at trying to get "paparazzi" shots and they aren't the kind of images I want to take anyway. Anyway, I will show you my Paris photos once I get back to London and hopefully you guys will like them :)

Sessilee Lopez, who is half Dominican and half Portuguese, looking fab in vintage jacket and those amazing heels (and she negotiated the cobblestones in London perfectly in them!)

Natalie Hartley, Senior Fashion Editor of the Sunday Times Style magazine (UK). Did anyone see the enormous The Sunday Times style magazine from yesterday's paper? They were giving them out before the Karl Lagerfeld show yesterday in the Tuileries. Natalie had a 2 page spread outlining her Top 10 key pieces to update your wardrobe for the coming season. They were: Gingham, Underwear as Outerwear, The Utility Jacket, Leather Shorts, Denim Shorts, The Denim Shirt, The Maxi Skirt, Tracksuit Trousers, The Grey Marl Jumper, The Pastel Knit. The good thing about all of those pieces is they can be picked up from high street stores (Topshop, Zara, H&M, J.Crew, Gap, Sportsgirl, Witchery etc), vintage/op shops, or you can pay a little (or a lot!) extra for the pieces which will last you for a few seasons.

Model and designer Ben Grimes. Ben has the label LPBG with Lily Parker: think little playsuits, shorty shorts, and cute little dresses. Available online at Browns. Love her sleeveless trench here and gorgeous Charlotte Olympia heels. Not sure where her amazing clutch is from...

Model Jeneil Williams and her gorgeous Hermes Birkin. Love how she has teamed her knee high boots with over-the-knee socks.

These photos make me happy :)

Ellie Ward in Pepe overalls, vintage Miu Miu trench and vintage booties.

I love what Ellie (who works for ASOS.com) is wearing: she looks so fresh and pretty and natural....everything just suits her so well, especially her sweet little hat. One of lovely people I met at LFW, Ava, who completely adores hats, spotted Ellie and declared that this style of hat is next on her shopping list!

p.s. I have a detailed update on what Peony was wearing (from last Fridays post), so if you were keen to know where she got everything check in about 10 mins on her post (below).

p.p.s. Big thank you to Vitaminwater who were kind enough to supply me with tickets for a few of the shows at LFW, and a lovely goodie bag which I received on Monday. It was stuffed full of excellent goodies including Jelly Belly sweeties, a copy of Wonderland magazine, some gorgeous handcrafted biscuits, Vitaminwater (of course!), and a fab scribble pad which I have already doodled in!

Emily Zak, Acting Executive Fashion Editor, British Vogue.

What I love about Emily's outfit (apart from that scrumptious Chanel bag looped over her arm!) is the leather top/corset/bra top? she has layered over her shirt. Okay, so the lingerie (and leather) trend is big this season but not all of us can (or want to) put our fleshy bits on display to the world, even if it is under a jacket or cardi. So how Emily is wearing hers is perfect: it is up-to-date but in a subtle way. AND, crucially, no stomach crunches are required :)

I really like the leather bra tops, particularly the buttery caramel biker one, by Blouson Noir (stylist Melanie Ward's line of clothing), and I think Alexander McQueen did some for SS 2010. No doubt there are lots of high street versions available as well that won't break the budget.

And note Emily's cowboy ankle boots? Saw a couple of the Vogue girls wearing these during LFW..... Time to dust them off again, perhaps?

Running With The Fash Pack....London Fashion Week A/W 2010

I really like all the bone and beige tones here, especially with the bright tartan scarf. (I know you guys can't really see, but under her coat Lyson was wearing a little pair of cream shorts.)
