Indian weddings have gone from simple to glamourous in the past few years. There was a time when a good Kancheevaram sari and some gold jewellery was enough for a wedding. Now, it’s all about Designer wear, costume jewellery, and red carpet show-downs.

Also, there is almost always a “Special” appearance by a celebrity to give the wedding that “oomph” factor. Again, while gold and diamonds are still very popular, costume jewellery and silver jewellery ar in vogue. Handbags and purses ar usually branded, as are the thin stilettos worn with sarees.
Men’s main accessories ar designer watches and shoes.
A typical Indian wedding used to serve Naan, Pulav etc for the receptions. Now, several Indian weddings have taken to serving dissimilar types of cuisine and from unlike countries. While the Persian Kababs are still pop and dosas and chaats hold their forte, Thai, Chinese, Italian and American food have made in- roads into the Indian wedding. Even Sushi and exotic desserts have started being served astatine receptions.
The traditional baarat has the groom coming to the wedding venue on a white horse. But, you can’t expect modern Indian girls to still be dream of a Prince on a White Horse. So, the new trends for the baarat admit the groom coming over in a beautiful car such as a Rolls Royce or a limousine. More extravagant weddings have seen the groom using a helicopter for his baarat.
