Running With The Fash Pack....Australian Fashion Week 2010

Another of my absolute fav outfits from Australian Fashion Week.....on the stunning Bel from LoveMore blog. Bel is completely gorgeous (both inside and out) and a super hard worker- she is a nanny for 2 kids in Sydney but also interns with the StyleStalker girls, and I think she said she has a third job as well!

p.s. In case anyone was wondering, Sadaf's (a few posts below this one of Bel) top was handmade for her, and her skirt was from Urban Outfitters. I have put it in the comments section as well :)

In Arnsdorf (whose show was just beautiful- the clothes were completely wearable and the models looked really pretty and happy. Loved it).

Natalia De Martin who launched her own label, The Last Romantic, in 2008.

I think she said the dress was Karen Walker.

Love the details here: her thin mustard-yellow belt and that gorgeous, broad-brimmed hat (a must in Australia pretty much all year round).

Melbourne Street Style...3.1 Phillip Lim

Andie, who is an artist, outside GPO in Melbourne. In 3.1 Phillip Lim dress (she lived in NYC for awhile).

Whenever I describe Australia to people who haven't visited before, I say "Oh, you'll love it- everyone is super friendly and laid-back and you will get invited to barbies and parties even if you don't know anyone". And true to form, the lovely Andie (who I had never met before- I was just wandering around with my camera) invited me to her birthday party the next night! How nice is that?!

The fabulous Sadaf, Fashion Market Editor, Famous magazine (Australia).

p.s. Am back from Italy and had an amazing time. We spent a couple of nights in Florence (had 2 great meals at Ristorante Il Latini and Trattoria Sostanza, as well as some delicious gelati- my jeans are definitely feeling tighter!) and then headed to the beautiful Tuscan countryside where some friends were getting married. The weather was incredible and watching the sun set during the reception was magical (watching the cavorting on the dance floor to "Down Under"- it was an American/Australian wedding- was rather less so!). After the wedding we drove (not a trip for the timid driver!) via Cinque Terre to Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino on the Italian Riveria which was achingly beautiful-exactly like you see in postcards. The air was rich with the scent of jasmine, the water crisp and clear (I had my first ever swim in the Mediterranean), the churches and buildings hugging the cliffs, amazing, and the food, fantastic. We found a small cafe/bar overlooking Santa Margherita and spent each afternoon sipping drinks and feasting on plates of fresh insalata caprese, salami and prosciutto and melon while watching the super-yachts cruising the bay. I would go back in a heartbeat :)

I completely adore this fuschia dress on model Tiah Eckhardt. It hugs in all the correct places and looks amazing with her red hair.

p.s.Tiah has the cutest little 6 month old baby girl!!

Former model turned fashion designer Amber Keating wearing a gorgeous dress from her own collection AmberJules. Having just returned from Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino in Italy, I could so see this dress working for summer in Europe. Popped over a bikini, with a little pair of flat sandals and a headscarf (I spied a number of Italian women in Santa Margherita wearing one and they looked utterly fabulous) it would be perfect for day, and for night a pair of wedges and some oversized earrings would work beautifully. Just need the plane ticket to get there!

Melbourne Street Street Style....The "Giles" Glasses

Whenever I see someone wearing glasses like these ones, I immediately think of British designer Giles Deacon (incidentally, congrats to Giles on the Emanuel Ungaro appointment).......I think they are just so geeky cool. Although I suspect that if I had been made to wear them in the 1980's when I was growing up, I would simply have refused to leave the house!

I spotted this girl as I was wandering along Chapel Street in Melbourne. She and her boyfriend were lugging an enormous bag between them. It turns out that they were both from Stockholm and had been working in Australia. They were due to return home to Sweden (via Bali) the day after I met them hence the giant bag containing all their belongings! Mmmm a summer spent in Aus followed by a summer in Europe = Bliss :)

Stunning New York based Aussie model (and new face of Moschino Toujours Glamour perfume) Alexandra Agostan.

p.s. Am madly repacking my suitcase as I have a wedding to go to in Tuscany this weekend (very excited!!). Not sure how much posting I will be doing over the next few days but I have lots of photos for when I get back next week :)

The always fabulous Michelle Jank. Stylist, jewellery (apart from her own jewellery line she has also recently collaborated with exclusive Australian jeweller Fairfax&Roberts to create a fine jewellery line) and fashion designer, Michelle was back in Australia to style some of the shows at Australian Fashion Week.

And the award for the most pathetic blogger goes too.......ME! I know, I know-I am completely hopeless at keeping y'all updated while I am away. My only excuse for not blogging while I was in Brisbane was that neither my mum, nor my husband's parents have internet access at home so we were reduced to sitting in Mcdonald's carparks around Brissie and madly checking our emails whenever we could. It almost did my head in not having web access (even Starbucks at Chermside Shopping Centre had no wifi-what's up with that???!). And um, I was sort of out every night catching up with friends while I was in Sydney :))Anyway, I got back to London yesterday and am slowly catching up on all my emails and looking through all my Aus photos.

What can I say about Australia? It is a bluddy great country, and I appreciate it even more now I have been away for 3 years. If you haven't visited Australia, start saving now-you will completely and utterly love it. The weather is fantastic (okay, so it is a tad warm during summer: maybe go during April/May if you don't like the heat), the food, coffee and wine are amazing, the people are just so warm and friendly (and fabulously healthy and fit looking!), the beaches are outstanding....I could go on and on :)

I was completely blown away by the girls I photographed during Australian Fashion Week: Bare, (fake) tanned legs, sky-high heels (I barely saw a flat all week), short everything (shorty shorts, shorty skirts, shorty dresses), toned bodies (hence the short everything!), glowing golden skin, designer handbags, colour (barely any black), exposed underwear are just a few words that spring to mind when I think about what I photographed during the week.

And the Overseas Passenger Terminal setting? Just beautiful. I feel so fortunate to have had such a beautiful location to photograph in. I really hope I get to go back again next year to do it all over again :)
